EXAMPLE…James McManis is our Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner as registered with the NDIS. He is a registered Psychologist with a Master of Forensic Mental Health and is currently completing his Master of Psychology (Clinical). James completed his psychology internship with Disability Services Queensland’s Intensive Behaviour Support Team in 2012. In this role James worked with the regions most behaviourally challenging adults that were not subject to containment or seclusion. James was then contracted by private providers to deliver positive behaviour support plans (PBSP) for individuals subject to restrictive practices (RP), leading to his registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission when, through legislation, they oversaw all PBSP development for NDIS funded services.
James traveled the state as he co-developed and delivered a state-wide integration, training, and delivery of PBSP processes and planning into one of Queensland’s largest providers of accommodation and support for children and adolescents in the Child Safety system. He also collaborated on training provision to Disability Services Queenlsand professional staff regarding the PBSP and RP amendments to the Disability Services Act 2006.
